Basically, horrible. Know of people eating this yummy thing? Read on. You might wanna stop them.
Recently we’ve seen this on sale everywhere and online at places like Shopee. Very disturbingly, NONE of them displays any form of nutrition facts and ingredients. Try searching them on Shopee. Thousands and hundreds of them sold and not a single label or nutrition fact shown.
Lucky for us, a supplier approached us touting this “healthy snack”. Of course we had to see its nutrition facts and ingredients before even considering it.
Ingredients (strawberry version): Yogurt (contains milk), strawberry. Problem: no mention whatsoever of what goes inside the yogurt.
56.9g sugar for 10 million probiotic cells only?
Nutrition facts (strawberry version) (see second pic in this post): A whopping 56.9% sugar.
Let’s say a normal probiotic supplement gives you (at least) 10 billion cells and if you’d wanna achieve the same amount by ingesting this “healthy snack”, you’ll need 100kg of it (not a typo). Which means 56.9g of sugar into your system from just 100g of yogurt cubes that only gives you 0.1% of a single probiotic supplement serving.
To put things into perspective: 5g of sugar = 1 teaspoon of sugar. So that’s more than 11 teaspoons right there.
We’ll end this post without a recommendation because it should be obvious enough. Too bad most consumers aren’t aware of this because, as mentioned above, almost none of the packaging comes with a proper nutrition label nor will you be able to find out online before buying.
Please share this so they know what’s actually marketed as “healthy” may not necessarily be so.
